CAUTION: END OF THE YEAR MUSICAL OVERLOAD AHEAD! (A heads up - just because you won't be able to say that I didn't warn you. Now continue and enjoy please. :))
Has anyone else noticed that band names with the word young in them have become kind of popular?
A selection (in alphabetical order):
Young Henry - Lounge-y Pop from Minnesota.
Young Hunting – Dreamy Los Angeles-based quartet.
Young Liars – Indie/dance/something from Vancouver, makes me think of Two Door Cinema Club.
Young Man – Aka Colin Caulfield (Not that it’s possible but if I had his last name,I’d go around saying I’m family of Holden.)
Young Rebel Set – Troubadours with a lovely accent.
Young Rival – Canadian Acrtic Monkeys making a little bit less noise.
So if you’re thinking about starting a band, choose a name with young in it; success guaranteed.
Talk to you next year, vrienden van de muziek!
P.S.: Second to last day of the year/post about band names that start with a Y/second to last letter of the alphabet/full circle.
P.S.S.: I'm sorry this post was so long.
P.S.S.S.: Bye!

<dramaqueen> I feel like someone shoved glue up my nose and is now trying to push it all back out using my brains... don't visualize that, makes a traumatic mental picture. </dramaqueen>
No but really, I hate being sick, especially now. Thank god I’ve got Teen Daze to keep me company.

When I was about twelve years old we had this green week at school and we had to sing a song of Louis Neefs (not this one but Laat Ons Een Bloem) and I hated it. I really did. But over the years I’ve come to appreciate Dutch music and found that I really like his voice.
In ’69 he competed in the Eurovision contest (and placed 7th in case you were wondering) with this song:
I know most of you won’t understand a thing of what he’s singing, but think about it: People who don’t speak English, don’t understand 90% of the lyrics of the songs they love. That’s a 100% minus the lalala’s and mhmhmh’s. Anyway, doesn’t mean you can’t like this song.
I post this song today because yesterday thirty years ago, on Christmas day, Louis Neefs died in a car crash and took a little piece of Belgian music history with him.
P.S.: look what I did today. I got this old radio to work as an amplifier for my record player. I win. :)

This is one of the fist posts on this blog (the 10th actually) and it’s about Dog & Panther; a band that had quite some mystery around who they were at the time. Attentive readers will have noticed that I used a past tense there because yes, the mystery has been cleared up. Somewhat.
Yesterday they posted this video on their youtube channel:
So what have we learned from this video Lisa? Well we’ve learned that they are in fact the actors in their other videos (them and a bunch of other people) and the description confirms that I wasn’t too far off with their names and what they do in the band – way to go Google!
And if your attention span lasted the whole eleven minutes you've had the honour to listen to their new song. If it didn't -shame on you-, replay the video and skip to 6:11.
No go show them some love on facebook or buy their album on bandcamp! Pretty Please?

Watched Despicable Me yesterday, was blown away by the soundtrack. I love love love the bassline in this song. Or is it like, a drum thingy? You know what I mean. The beat. The pulse. The rhythm. The flow. The palpitation. The thump. You get it, right?
I guess I'll have to add Pharrell Williams to my list of me liking Kanye West and Kid Cudi. Doesn't have to grow any longer though.

My new addiction this month: Bravestation.
They even made a cover of one of my favourite old songs This Must Be The Place by Talking Heads.
Go to their bandcamp to download your free copy of their 2010 EP!

I know this is ridiculously late, I'm sorry. I shouldn't be making excuses, but let me give it to you anyway. I've been very busy with school. Some deadlines are coming up and to be honest, what I have now will just not be good enough.
BUT HEY, back to what we’re here for: music!
Have you clicked play already?
If no - What are you waiting for? Go on!
If yes - Amazing, right?

Today’s how-to: Turn 2 hip-hop tracks into one beautiful song.
(I think there are only two. If you detect more, let me know. And I’ll let you decide if they’re bad or not, I tend to rather dislike hip-hop... with the exception of Kanye West. And Kid Cudi. Sometimes. And I'm still writing between parentheses. This is going on longer than the actual post.)
Your teacher: jj.
ALSO, Monday's post… wow. I promise I won’t ever do that again.

Why, oh why am I always tragically in love? I've been waiting for over a week now for some guy to talk to me. Here I was thinking I was different than all the other girls. And there you were thinking I’d declare my deep and endless love for a song once again...
BUT ANYWAYS, Do you remember the other song I posted of Blood Diamonds? This one's another gem - no pun intended.
See, isn’t this nice? This isn’t just a musicblog. You get the ins and outs of my life as well, wether you like it or not.Oh shut up, you stupid girl – with a stupid crush.

I don't have to tell you about my little obsession with the eighties anymore, do I? Both songs are featured in the movie Pretty In Pink. Weird enough Positively Lost Me isn't included on the soundtrack, their loss.
The Rave-ups / I practise my 80's dance moves to them... you don't want to know. ;)
OT / I’ve come to the conclusion that I was wrong in my previous post. I don’t hate snow. It’s my equilibrium (google is your friend) that I hate.

The only thing I see when I look out of my window these days is snow. Everywhere. I've gotten tired of it already and it's only the second of December. I don't want this now I want a white Christmas!
Anyway, this song makes me think of summer and white beaches/blue seas/heat waves and such. So maybe, if I play it enough, it'll melt the snow off my window?
