Today I got the devastating news that one of my best friends committed suicide. This song is for him. We went on road trips to Italy multiple times and this was our theme song.

EDIT - Friday 13:28 / This was a scheduled post. Chaos ruled Pukkelpop yesterday. 5 people died. 3 are still fighting for their lives. 7 are badly wounded, but will be fine. More than 60 people are injured. My thoughts go out to the family and friends of the victims.

They’re hard to screw up, because of the obvious amazing original songs (yeah well, I really like David Byrne). I mean, Psycho Killer on Ukuleles? Hell yes.

I said wouldn’t do this anymore, but here we are again; time for a new oh-me-a-Belgian-band-oh-my-you-better-like-them-oh-boy-I-am-a-fan-post. In not so many words: shameless promotion for School Is Cool. Go!







Facts and confessions:
1) I never truly paid attention to their music until Saturday evening.
2) They are contagiously catchy live.
3) They do a great Talking Heads cover (which is a certain +10 in my book).
4) I am now a fan, looking forward to their CD release.

Me oh my.

I admit, I giggled like a little girl on a sugar high when I heard the very 80’s sounding sax solo kicking in around the third minute - I love it! I do feel like he tried very hard to make it sound like his older work and don’t get me wrong, that’s not necessarily a bad thing, but I think there could’ve been more to it. Anyway, if this single is a good reflection of the new album, I already know whose songs I’ll be playing over and over again this fall while nostalgically remembering my great summer. Sigh.
