Hearing the name of this band causes my mind to make an instant connection to a turkey. Granted GOBBLE GOBBLE is a name you’ll remember and the same goes for their music, but couldn’t they choose less of an eyebrow-raising alias?

What their music sounds like is very hard to describe. It’s like someone took a computer, gave it a good shake, added guitars, improvised some lyrics to whatever came out and recorded the result. 

Listen and you’ll understand what I mean.



They release more remixes and mix tapes then any other band I know, but if I’d their talent I’d do the exact same.

I probably don’t have to introduce you to Au Revoir Simone, but has anyone heard the Clock Opera remix for Tell Me? It’s featured on the remix album Night Light and quite beautiful.

How about making every weekend post about an old song or band?

The thing is, I have a weak spot for catchy tunes from the sixties. And the seventies. And the eighties. The nineties... not so much. Relieved? Yeah, me too. 

First song: This must be the place (Naive melody) by Talking Heads. Hop in the DeLorean and let's go back to 1983. (Man, I really need to stop making lame references...)

The song has been covered to exhaustion (Arcade Fire, Miles Fisher, MGMT) and with good reason. 
I don’t know why I like it so much, maybe it's the repeating bass/guitarline or the lyrics. Or maybe just because it's a really different kind of love song - if those even exists. 
Anyway, this is a song I think everyone should know and at least appreciate (Read: should know and love).

There’s this band from Lafayette Colorado and being the True Blood noob I am, that was the only reason I checked their music.  But hello! Am I glad I did! 
Meet Gauntlet Hair: up till now they only have three songs – that I know of – and one 7” released, but word is they’re working on a debut album.

So just to be clear: whenever somebody asks you how I got to know Gauntlet Hair (</dreaming>), you go: “Oh, she just stumbled upon their music on a warm summer’s day. Yes, I do believe it was faith.” and keep the True Blood story between us ;)

So I’m a mash-up fan. I know. A lot of people hate the idea of two totally different songs being mixed together, but I have this one offbeat brain cell that likes rap music mixed over gentle violins and such.

But even if you’re a hater, listen to this:
